The Romney campaign has constantly criticized the Obama campaign for not solving the country’s unemployment problem. In fact, one of Romney’s main arguments in Wednesday’s debate was that America has “23 million people out of work.”But, today The Labor Department’s job report says that unemployment has dropped from 8.1% to 7.8% in September.
Of course these new numbers have sparked controversy among many conservatives, including Jack Welch the former CEO of General Electric. These conservatives are saying that the numbers have been altered in order to favor the President. Although these allegations have been debunked, Romney is already taking his next stance on the economy, saying that the decrease in the unemployment rate “is not what real recovery looks like.”
Romney continued by stating that the jobless rate was only lower because millions of people had left the labor force in despair after not finding jobs. “The results of President Obama’s failed policies are staggering.”
While even conservative economists have claimed this scandal of the President’s administration altering these numbers as false, the economy and jobs will still be a main focus of this election.
