SMU Students Analyze the 2012 Presidential Election

Forced Photo Op

Milking Romney’s post-debate bounce? Maybe that’s what Paul Ryan was doing last week at an Ohio soup kitchen.

Brian J. Antal, president of the Mahoning County St. Vincent De Paul Society, said that his organization is apolitical and is not a platform for political coverage. However, apparently Ryan’s team asked a volunteer to hold the door open and allow them in for 15 minutes while completing a photo op. When the photo op was taking place, the food had been served and the soup kitchen had been cleaned.

As the clock to election day counts down, both campaigns will become ruthless in capturing the images or soundbites necessary to gain an advantage over one another. Unfortunately, this story is just one of many that have already occurred and that will continue to occur until election day.
