Because of Hurricane Sandy, Mitt Romney has cancelled Monday night and Tuesday campaigning in Iowa.
Instead, Romney will use this time and campaign resources to assist those in the hurricane’s path.
“It’s going to affect a lot of families; it already has,” he said. “And the damage will probably be significant, and of course a lot of people will be out of power for a long time. And so hopefully your thoughts and prayers will join with mine and people across the country as you think about those folks that are in harm’s way.”
Obama has also canceled campaign plans for the next several days to return to the White House to coordinate a response to Sandy.
Although losing campaigning time with so little to spare is terrible for both campaigns, it is nice to see both parties put aside politics for a few days for the greater good. If nothing else, it will give those struck with political fatigue a few days reprieve.
