With less than 30 hours to go it seems like President Obama is closing in on Michigan once more. While it was a tight race the last few days, with polls claiming a ‘virtual tie,’ those polls are now trending towards Michigan continuing its trend to become a blue state on Tuesday.
RealClearPolitics is projecting a 3.3 percent lead for President Obama, although Romney was in a virtual tie last week with the President according to the Pew Research Center. This is after a last minute ad buy from both parties in an attempt to sway last minute voters. The Pro-Romney Super PAC Restore Our Future created an ad entitled “Flatline” in which the economy was compared to a hospital patient flatlining, and eventually dying.
The Detroit Free Press also reports that, “The campaign also includes a $5-million national ad buy for a TV spot called “The New Normal,” in which Restore Our Future urges viewers to “demand better” than the high unemployment and joblessness seen in recent years.”
While the numbers say this last minute effort to win Michigan won’t work, this ad buy proves how tight of a race it actually is. But for now, it is apparent that Michigan will stay blue and give their 16 electoral votes to the President. Of course Destination 270 will be giving you all election results as they roll in tomorrow, so stay tuned.
