On November 1oth The Royal Oak Daily Tribune published an opinion piece written by their Political beat writer Chad Selweski explaining his problems with voting in Michigan. This piece raised some interesting points about Michigan’s antiquated voting system that many have overlooked for decades.
Comparing Michigan to the electionally-challenged state of Florida, Selweski called for reform.
“Twenty-seven states have no-reason absentee voting; 32 states have early voting; 17 states allow some elections to be held entirely by mail. Michigan? None of the above.”
While it is unknown if Michigan legislature is looking to amend its voting methods, this piece proves that modernization is necessary, especially if Michigan wants better voter turnout in the future.
