Rubio Possibly Looking to Iowa for 2016

With the 2012 election now a distant memory from last week, whispers of 2016 hopefuls have started to become louder. For instance, according to CNN, Marco Rubio will be visiting Iowa next week to headline a fundraiser dinner for Terry Branstad, Iowa’s governor.

This could be Rubio’s first step in winning over the Hawkeye state, or it could be a simple favor for a friend.

Steve King’s Plans for Iowa’s Fourth District

After winning the newly-formed fourth district in Iowa, republican representative Steve King is looking ahead at his next term.

Although Christie Vilsack gave King a formidable fight for his seat in the House, King ultimately came out victorious.

The now six-term incumbent has had to adjust his plans now that Obama won reelection. He will be making compromises that might betray his initial platform.

A Safe Night in Iowa

Last night, Barack Obama claimed victory over Mitt Romney on the national stage as well as in Iowa. The polls have predicted all along that Obama would win the Hawkeye state. Although things were close for a while, democratic voters came out in full force last night to give the president a win of over five percentage points.

The congressional races had a similar outcome.

Vilsack Could Make Iowa History

Steve King has had no easy time in the district four congressional race. The incumbent has found a feisty challenger in Christie Vilsack who has kept her republican opponent on his toes.

While the polls still favor King, Vilsack is still fighting and still has a chance of taking office. If she does, though, not only will it be an incredible upset, but also a historic moment for Iowa as a whole.
